Principle:

The formation of protein carbonyl in vivo is accomplished by the metal ion catalytic oxidation system. In this process,Fe2+ and Cu2+can be incorporated in the protein cation binding site. After being attacked by H2O2 or superoxide anion, the side chain containing amino acids will become carbonylation. In addition to, hydroxyl radicals may also directly act on peptide chain to fracture the chain, causing the damage of protein structure and producing carbonyl around the area of the break. It is very easy for carbonyl protein to cross link and aggregate into large molecules that leads to the function of the protein reduced or lost, which can also increase the burden of intracellular proteolytic enzymes, eventually leading to disease.This assay kit can be widely used in the early diagnosis for various diseases such as aging, arteriosclerosis, diabetes and Parkinson's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and for the evaluation of antioxidant health food, antioxidant drugs and cosmetics, and also for the evaluation of the oxidative damage caused by some environmental factors such as radiation, chemical poison and so on.
